anyone been in a tournament and been frustrated with their cards? youre up 2500, youre sick of fold fold fold. so you say 'screw it'. im going to chase A-4 unsuited with 2d-9s-Jh on flop. hoping that an ace comes on turn or river, giving you high probable you have the best hand and on top of this praying 4 holds up on tie breaker.

this is by far the biggest problem for me. when things are going my way and im in rhythm i can play my way to final table no problem. but even up 10,000 i will lose my cool after waiting and waiting.

i dont know, i guess i just need to learn patience. 2500+ is plenty of ammo to win in any medium to near late stage of the game.

i even purposely make tiny chases, just so when i do have a good hand i get more chips out. but damn it, it is frustrating when youre not getting the cards.

you were on that 3 table tourny at party poker with me last night huh? it was horrible, about 4 or 5 of us bitchin about the exact same thing, 2 good hands then shit for 15 in a row. you dont really lose anything, maybe a blind or 2 but you get so damnnnn frustrated!
you know one thing that i think causes it is these t.v. tournys. for the most part all you ever see is the final table with 6-7 guys slugging it out, going all-in every other hand, it looks like great fun but in reality these tournys can last for hours on end of nothing hands and being afraid to go pee cus you might miss that AA,A/K hand your sure is coming any minute...lifes a bitch and so is poker. i kind of think this may be a fad which will die out in a year or 2 as people see the reality of the total game..ive been playing the morning freeroll every morn at WSEX. after 2 hours yesterday i realized what am i doing this for? 30 bucks IF i win the whole thing..2.5 hours for 30 bucks i could as good at walmart without half the pressure..i believe more and more people are beginning to feel the same way. there will always be poker but i doubt you'll find 40'000 plus players on 2-3 sites every night as you do now.

everytime i see more than 3 guys go all in pre flop makes me think of that scene in lethal weapon when mel gibson jumps off the ledge with that guy who wants to commit suicide. "come on! you want to do it!?!"

i heard 1 time 9 players went all in pre flop. it is just crazy.

the software that talks is the best. you check sit out a hand, and you go to the kitchen to grab a soda and all you hear is "all in (plunk) all in (plunk) all in (plunk)" lol i just shake my head and shut the fridge.

RobFunk-

I once played in a 7 hour tournament and a few others that were 5-6 hours. Playing good/solid poker can be very boring and only becomes exciting during short-handed play. If you know that going in, make a decision...are you there to get paid or there for entertainment?!?!? There are times when I choose the former and others where I choose the latter. I try to make sure the latter is for smaller limits and doesn't happen to frequently.

BTW, I'm not good enough to play exciting poker constantly. There are many pros who do, try to learn from them.
